25% of UK Forces are Scots

It has been revealed that 25% of UK Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan are Scottish. This is a disgrace and is rooted in poverty. The mathematics are mirrored by the proportion of poor Latinos who serve (check the casualty list names) in the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. Poor=more likely to be unemployed=less choice=more likely to take a military job that most people wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Poor also=less likely to be well informed=more likely to find yourself in a hell-hole military debacle. If anyone was in any doubt about the North/South divide in the UK, not to mention the widening poverty gap, these military stats should put the lid on it. It was also entirely appropriate that the Scottish First Minister recently took part in a remembrance ceremony at the Menin gate in Belgium as Scotland appears to have had the highest death-rate per head of population (caused by enemy action, excluding disease and famine)of any participating nation in the First World War.
