Legacy of The Occupation

'Displacement is largely a result of sectarian cleansing in mixed neighbourhoods. Sunnis have fled Basra, while Shi’as were driven out of areas north of Baghdad such as Samarra and Baquba. The US ‘surge’ did not create peace, but rather cemented sectarian segregation. In the majority Sunni village of Abou Jabour, south of Baghdad, where US forces dropped 45,000 kg of explosives in 10 days in January 2008 as part of the ‘surge’, survivors were left to dig through the rubble with their bare hands.' 1. Great link. Why is this not on MSM? Oh, I just remembered why. :-)
The real after effects of this will take a long time to show. Many future generations will still suffer due to ---Be nice to America or we will bring democracy to your country.
The horror man brings upon hims self and others.

  2. RZ, The maps in the links tell the story in themselves. Don't let them forget Iraq in your blog. The neocon Nulabs here are still trying to say it is all over -'Mission Accomplished'. More than 500 Iraqis are reported to have died by violence in May. That means it is more than 500.

  3. I agree Iraq has been swept under the rug. Remember Paul Bremer? IMO he disbanded the Iraqi military for the purpose of starting an insurgency. What he did was not a mistake, it was intentional for that purpose. They knew that an insurgency would arise from the purged military, and Sunni leadership in the Government. --No insurgency, no need to occupy--. If you do a DEEP bio on Bremer, he was a Kissinger boy. Coincidence or consequence? I do not believe in coincidences.:-)

  4. Even at the run up to the illegal attack on Iraq, I was speaking out against it. This was a great set up by PNAC, and the Neocons. I have to give them credit for their evil, and thorough planning. The American people swallowed it hook line and sinker. The worst part is that they got away with it, and will never be punished.

  5. I marched with 20,000 people in Glasgow. 1M marched in Europe on the eve of the invasion. Some accountability, not much, is still possible. Blair looked haggard at the Chilcott Inquiry. Made me sleep a bit easier. I will pursue him, in my humble way, to the gates of Hell where he will surely be on the list. Bedtime for me RZ - enjoy the AZ sunshine this evening.

  6. BTW. This is breaking tonight re the flotilla massacre: The oldest victim was 60-year-old Ibrahim Bilgen, a Turkish politician, engineer and activist who was married with six children. He had been shot once in the right temple, once in the right side of his chest, once in the back and once in the hip.

Cetin Topcuotlu, a 54-year old former Taekwondo champion who worked as a coach for the Turkish national team, was shot three times – once in the back of his head, once in his hip and once in his belly. His wife, Cigden, who was with him on the Mavi Marmara said at his funeral on Thursday she would take part in further flotillas to Gaza with her son.

The detail of the wounds came as yet more survivors returned to the UK and gave their account of the attacks. More on:
