Two Civilians Latest Nato Victims

NATO forces in Afghanistan killed two civilians on a motorbike after they 'refused to stop' while driving towards a security barrier, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says.
The force denied any misconduct in the killings (as always)  in the southern province of Helmand, saying the pair refused to listen to warnings and posed a threat.
"Two Afghan civilians riding a motorcycle were killed after failing to adhere to several warnings to stop while approaching a security perimeter in southern Afghanistan Saturday," the ISAF statement said.
"The two individuals were engaged with lethal force," it said.
"Initial reports indicate coalition forces followed the appropriate escalation of force procedures.
"International Security Assistance Force service members follow strict rules in regards to escalation of force procedures and do not target civilians," the statement said.
The US-led force has been responsible for scores of civilian deaths, mainly caused by air raids during battles with Taliban and other insurgents.
The issue is highly sensitive with Afghan leaders who argue that such incidents erode public support for the Western-backed administration. Full story here  on Yahoo News. Look for the telltale phrases and signs that Yahoo report NATO press releases as if they were factual news.
