My own view is that there is a cruel method in the US madness. Manning is being brutalised to soften him up into becoming a co-operative witness against Julian Assange who is the US spooks' real target and prize.

We are their target and prize.
They are not afraid that we will find out their secrets.
They are afraid of what we might do once we do find out their secrets.
This to me is what MENA is all about.
Yes indeed. But they will pursue Assange all the way as some kind of bogeyman. It let's the masters of war as you call them pretend to occupy some kind of high ground. Unfortunately some people, mostly in the US, buy it.
