Here is a link to RHS Crossman, Labour MP addressing Parliament in 1958 on the Suez fiasco. Anyone taking the trouble to read the Hansard excerpt will be struck by the similarity with today's foreign policy ineptitude in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya. Same themes. Spin, fraudulence, hypocrisy, incompetence, hubris and secrecy. The debate also involves Aneurin Bevan. Worth a read.
