Debate On Syrian Crisis Turns Into Brawl

The debate was taking place in Lebanon between the former MP and member of the opposition Moustapha Allouch, and the pro-Syrian Chokr Fayez, Secretary General of Arab Socialist Baath Party in Lebanon.  The discussion quickly escalates. Moustapha Allouch said he listened to a recent speech of Bashar al-Assad, but does not believe his words. The Baathist gets angry: "Who are you not to believe?". The former MP replies: "I do not think so because he is a liar." Fayez Chokr explodes: "You are the liar. And also your master [former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, leader of the Future Movement]. After asking his opponent to calm down, Mr. Allouch says: "A  mukhabarat [note: the Syrian secret services] do not talk to me like that." To which he replies my shoe is more honorable than you. " It shows the extent to which nerves are on edge all around Syria and the possible span of the shock waves if Assad falls. Lebanon will feel them first.
