Al-Shabaab terror attack in Kenya - A View from Somalia | East & Horn Africa:
"Among the more worrying news from Nairobi is that several of the alleged attackers hail from outside Somalia, including a British woman and members of the US diaspora.
"People here are scared," says Mohamed Bile, a rights activist based in Hargeisa, in the breakaway state of Somaliland. "They fear that members of Al Shabaab from other countries are increasing, which may give them power."
That Somalis have reacted with less shock than their international counterparts should be no surprise: on September 8th, locals counted 18 bodies in Mogadishu when two bombs were detonated by Shabaab outside a popular restaurant. A string of violent strikes this year have dispelled any myths that the capital, home to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's historically recognised government, is a safe place to be."
