At least 12 were killed after a US forces' bomber mistakenly targeted a civilian house in central Maidan Wardak late Monday, provincial council members Masoud Shenzi and Sharifullah Hotak said.
In the joint operation, a prison operated by the Taliban was destroyed in the Jaghato district of the province, leading to freedom for eight soldiers imprisoned by the militants, the officials said.
