So Britain assisted in rendition all along, as if we didn't know. John Hutton's statement to the House of Commons today raised more questions than it answered and was of course timed to get buried in the publicity surrounding the sad death of David Cameron's son and the ongoing banking debacle. Past lies will come back to haunt the New Labour cynics again and again before they are destroyed at the next election.
Miliband and Smith are ducking the Parliamentary human rights committee to answer questions about this. They also failed to answer any of the eight questions that the committee asked about legal provisions offering MI5 officers immunity in the UK for crimes committed overseas. The JCHR is now asking Jonathan Evans, the director-general of MI5, to appear before it to be questioned about the agency's policy and the conduct of his officers.
