A YouGov poll for the Sun shows 45 per cent of people supporting action by Britain, the US and France, and 36 per cent stating that it is wrong.
However, a ComRes/ITN poll shows almost exactly the opposite, with 35 per cent in favour of action and 43 per cent opposed to it.
The vast majority of Americans could not point to Libya on a map if their life depended on it.

Yes, that's a sad consideration. I remember reading an anecdote about Condoleeza Rice, considered an intellectual, I believe. She said, when the post 9-11 bombing of Afghanistan was first being considered, 'When we saw where it was on the map.. our blood ran cold'. Not as cold as mine when I thought of the fact that someone in her position didn't know where Afghanistan was.
