BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say a Sunni lawmaker has been killed in a suicide bombing in western Iraq. The governor of Anbar province, Qassim al-Fahdawi, says lawmaker Ifan al-Issawi was killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up nearby in the restive city of Fallujah on Tuesday. There was no immediate word on additional casualties.
Anbar province, which is dominated by Iraq's Sunni minority, has been the scene of more than three weeks of protests against the Shiite-led government. They were sparked by the arrest of bodyguards assigned to Iraq's Sunni finance minister, who comes from the al-Issawi tribe as the lawmaker killed Tuesday.
