Herring, Cherries and Glassware - Willem Van Aelst

The painting is in Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow and I have seen it many times. Only recently learned that is was bought by the wife of a slave trader in the city in the 1690s. She bequeathed it to the city. Beauty from horror.
