Battle of Culloden Moor, April 16th 1746

Not only did this defeat mark the end for the Catholics and the Highland, Celtic culture, it was the beginning of massacres, war-crimes and the Highland Clearances.The horrible ramifications come down to the present day. I took the picture below myself (the field is now recognised as an official war grave) on a visit to Nairn a few years ago.
