America Undermines UN Gaza Resolution

Rice's ludicrous statement which astonished UN Delgates: "The United States thought it important to see the outcomes of the Egyptian mediation efforts in order to see what this resolution might have been supporting."

The Israeli's backed to the hilt by Bush and Rice have killed more than 650 people in less than a fortnight, including at least 200 children, and wounded three thousand. On Tuesday, after killing 50 civilians in UN schools sheltering refugees — “C’est la guerre”, the Israeli minister Meir Shitreet told the BBC when asked about the atrocities — the Israeli government agreed a three-hour daily lull in the carnage for “humanitarian purposes”, God help us. All this at the cost of only 10 Israeli dead, six of them soldiers. The neocons are having their last shit on the world and we will all be paying for it in years to come.

Rice defended the large civilian death toll in the first two weeks of the attack , saying “it’s hard” for Israeli troops to avoid killing civilians because the tiny strip is so densely populated. Rice likewise defending the war itself, saying the UN resolution calling for its ending was unacceptable because it treated Israel’s part in the war with Hamas, which isn’t a member of the United Nations. She insisted, Israel was only defending itself with the enormous civilian toll in Gaza. On top of that,
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack was also asked about the growing number of reports about Israel violating international humanitarian law, but insisted that he is “not in a position to contradict” the Israeli government, which has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in the massive humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. American fingrerprints are all over this war crime.

you could write the script -an Israeli ceasefire just in time for Barack Obama to have a squeaky-clean inauguration with all the world looking at the streets of Washington rather than the rubble of Gaza. Condi and Ms Livni thought their new arms-monitoring agreement – reached without a single Arab being involved – would work. Black farce (no pun, barack)
