Did you see the gurning ghost of Tony Blair that strutted across this election campaign screens? – orange and wild-eyed and bloated by his millions, pursued by people who have a powerful case that he should be in prison for war crimes. His biopic would be a film about betrayal. We thought we were voting for a more equal Britain in 1997 when in fact the "filthy rich" – to use the term of Peter Mandelson – became filthier and richer and crashed the global economy. We thought we were voting for "an ethical foreign policy" when we got a war that killed a million civilians, and complicity with torture.
I don't think Labour is dead yet but it is on the life support system. However it will die if scumbags like the Millbands, Balls or Burnham are elected as leader. And if they are elected, then the unions should turn of the life support by cutting off the funds. As a union member for 33 years that's what I want.

ReplyDeleteJust about sums it up, Johann. What will we get tomorrow, I wonder? Blair's intrusion was just one part of the New Labour grotesquerie.
